Laurie Willhite is the Medication Safety Manager at Hennepin Healthcare and the Co- Medical Director of the Interventional Pain Clinic. Dr. Willhite graduated with BSPharm and PharmD degrees from the University of Iowa and completed a Geriatrics Pharmacotherapy Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. In her earlier roles, she served as a pain clinic medication therapy management pharmacist with a specific focus on opioid safety and stewardship. She is the Vice-Chair of the Steve Rummler Hope Network, Minnesota's largest nonprofit focused on opioid harm reduction with naloxone.

Pain is one of the most prevalent and problematic somatic symptoms in patients with kidney disease that contributes to poor quality of life. Medication options are limited by declining kidney function.
